Overview
The WD100 series is a family of single-beam echo-sounders for underwater distance measurement and target detection. These self-contained probes integrate all electronics internally, requiring no external boards. They feature rugged stainless-steel construction and communicate via standard serial interfaces.
The series offers two operating modes. Ranging mode reports the nearest, strongest, and farthest targets per cycle, ideal for complex environments. Scanning mode streams echo profiles for seabed surveys and multi-target mapping.
Configurable parameters include detection timing, thresholds, shielding, and transmit power. Three models are available: a basic standalone unit, a multi-device networking version, and a premium model with parameter memory.
Output supports raw hexadecimal or standard marine data formats. Supporting Windows applications enable real-time display and data logging.
Battery power is recommended for stable operation. The series is widely used for depth

Dual Operating Modes (Ranging + Scanning)
Ranging Mode: In each detection cycle, the system can continuously record up to 16 targets and outputs the distances to the nearest target, the strongest target, and the farthest target, along with their corresponding echo levels. This enables better target identification in complex environments.
Scanning Mode: The system continuously outputs echo level variations at a sampling rate of 15 kHz, providing detection results similar to those of an imaging sonar for seafloor topography or multi-target distribution surveys.
High Flexibility and Configurability
Supports configuration via serial port commands (RS485/TTL) for multiple parameters, including:
Detection cycle (0.1 s – 5 s)
Pulse width (0.01 ms – 2.5 ms)
Sound speed (default 1480 m/s, user-adjustable)
Distance range (up to 100 m)
Transmit power (high/low selectable)
Initial/final thresholds, short-range shielding, etc.
Supports output format switching between HEX and NMEA SDDBT (standard marine data format).
Multi-Device Networking and Parameter Storage (Model-Dependent)
WD100: Standalone operation; does not support multi-device networking.
WD101: Supports up to 1–255 devices sharing a single serial port via device ID addressing.
WD102: Builds upon WD101 by adding parameter save functionality, allowing user-defined configurations to be retained as power-on defaults.
Compact, Rugged, and Versatile for Underwater Environments
Stainless steel housing with a maximum working depth of 500 m (deeper possible with hull-penetrating installation).
Compact dimensions: φ58 mm × 60 mm, weight approx. 600 g (excluding cable).
Operating frequency: 350 – 400 kHz, beam width: approx. 11°, typical power consumption: only 0.5 W.
Suitable for applications such as lake/ocean depth sounding, vessel obstacle avoidance, and mud level measurement in channels or water towers.
